I got the advice about putting it in forward from a rocket scientist. It feels like there is a ton of tension in the shifter and with a lot of force I am able to barely get it to click into neutral but the boat still moves forward. Pump works fine. I am going nuts trying to find out if the throttle/shift cable and the fast idle cable are the same size on my 1990 70hp Yamaha. For the first time, I experienced tremendous resistance with my 703 Remote control box. The only way to get it to stop is to put it in reverse. If the splies do not match competely, get someone to slightly but very slowly move the shifter to fw just enough to get the splines aligned and it should go up. once adjusted. I've done most of the work in the past on all my motors with very few issues. When in gear it runs poorly like it is fuel starved and surges when running or doesn't plane at all. I have run a direct line to fresh fuel, replaced fuel filters, injectors were sent away and inspected, new plugs, VST inspected last fall. My lower units are heavy and they NEVER slide right back into the proper position without a lot of messing around. Got an OMC manual and parts diagram -Replaced coils, points, condensors, water pump, fuel pump rebuild and carb rebuild. Even freshwater could lock it up due to corrosion of bearings. No longer strong enough to go through that crap with my old back. Dropped the Jun 20, 2016 · In a 2007 Z200 HPDI the only things that will put the motor RPM reduction mode are (1) over temperature of that motor, (2) low oil quantity in the engine mounted tank of that motor and (3) a sister motor, if installed, going into RPM reduction mode. It seems to run fine at a cruising speed but go into the throttle more close to WOT and it bogs down and loses RPM until I pull the throttle back and RPM's will pick back up. Aug 16, 2015 · The only way I can explain it is I click the gear manually using the lower shaft in the lower unit and it goes into forward (prop goes forward), it goes into neutral (prop spins free), but when it clicks into what should be reverse the prop still spins in the forward motion. what has happend is, the bearing race has slide to the rear causing the cam to be stuck in forward. I put the lever in neutral and the prop spins free in both directions. It dod not sound pretty and I felt like I was grinding the thing into reverse. In neutral it idles as normal and can rev up to 3000 rpm but sounds like it's missing.
